Deputy Minister Of SOEs The Import Value Of Used KRL Is Still Necessary

JAKARTA - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) assesses that imports of electric rail trains (KRL) from Japan are still needed. This is because the KRL produced by PT INKA cannot be completed in the near future to replace the series of fires that retired this year and next year.

Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that for domestic production, PT INKA has completed the KRL design at the Banyuwangi factory.

"So we have finalized the design for the KCI made by INKA. Yesterday in Banyuwangi, the production facilities were inaugurated, and we have detailed the design according to the same specifications as the Japanese spec," he told reporters, Wednesday, April 5.

However, continued Tiko, Kartika's nickname, the production process for INKA's production of KRL could not be completed in the near future. Therefore, Tiko assessed, the urgency of importing used trains is important.

"We will probably start production, and it will be completed in 2025. We understand that the needs are huge, so maybe we will recommend the acceleration of INKA production, with options while there may need to be imports," he explained.

"But later we will see what BPKP recommendations we need to fulfill first," he continued.

Regarding the report from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) which stated that the imports of KRL from Japan did not meet the criteria, he said he had not received the documents.

Therefore, continued Tiko, his party has not yet decided whether the plan to import the used KRL from Japan will be canceled. The reason, he said, this decision must be considered properly.

"I don't know yet (it was canceled), we don't know yet. Because I haven't seen the report yet. Because we have to see that this is important, so there are two, both are running," he said.
