Four Couriers Of 15.6 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine In Tanjungbalai, North Sumatra, Are Demanded The Death Penalty

TANJUNGBALAI - Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Tanjungbalai District Attorney, North Sumatra demanded the death of four defendants in the case of narcotics couriers of the type of shabu-shabu 15,602.23 grams (15.6 kilograms) and 10,000 ecstasy pills.

"Demanding the death penalty for the defendants M Safii alias Ationg, Hendry Iskandar, Fazruddin and Adlan alias Alan," said Tanjungbalai Prosecutor's Office Sitilisa Evriaty Boru Tarigan at the Tanjungbalai District Court, North Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 14.

The prosecutor assessed that the four defendants were legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law 35 concerning Narcotics junto Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

Namely, jointly without rights or against the law, bidding for sale or selling, buying, becoming an intermediary for buying and selling, exchanging, handing over, or receiving narcotics in the form of non-plants that exceed five grams.

The actions of the four defendants did not support the government, which was actively eradicating drugs, the defendant was involved in an international network.

"Meanwhile, the defendant M Safii Alias Ationg has been convicted in a narcotics crime case," he said.

Meanwhile, for evidence, five plastic packs of methamphetamine weighing 5,202.23 grams and 10 plastic packs of 10,399, 93 grams and ecstasy pills with a total of 5,000 pills weighing 4.5 kilograms were destroyed, while one unit of a boat without engines was confiscated for the state.

The panel of judges chaired by Yustika Rahmadhani will continue the trial with the agenda of defending the defendant and legal counsel next week.
