Elon Musk Forces Business Owners To Continue Advertising On X To Pay Off The Increase

JAKARTA - Elon Musk is again causing trouble by forcing business owners to continue advertising on his platform, X. If not, then they will lose verification of their official brand account.

Citing a report, Twitter, which is now rebranding to X, has started offering 50 percent discounts to several advertisers in the United States (US) and the UK. Their video ads will be placed alongside the topic going viral, under the Explore tab.

Musk set the policy to take effect on August 7. However, the conditions that advertisers must go through are quite difficult.

Those who have not reached a certain spending threshold will lose their official brand account verification. According to emails sent to advertisers, a brand had to spend at least $1.000 on their ads in the previous 30 days.

Or advertisers are required to pay 6,000 US dollars (IDR 60 million) in the previous 180 days to maintain the gold tick as a sign that the account has been verified.

Launching The Verge and WSJ, Thursday, July 27, Musk earlier this month stated that his company was in a state of losses of 50 percent of the decline in advertising revenue, and quite a mountain of debt.

This was due to the large number of advertisers who withdrew from X shortly after being acquired by Musk last year.

Musk then racked his brain to ask X customers to subscribe to Twitter Blue, which has dozens of new features including paid blue ticks.

Not only that, but billionaires are also limiting Tweets that people who are not listed on the platform or those who are reluctant to subscribe to Blue.
