Fadli Zon Is Asked To Be Vice President Of The OKI Parliamentary Session, DPR BKSAP Reminds Implementation Of Institutional Resolution And Strengthening
The DPR's Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) delegation attended the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Organization of OKI Countries in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, 17-18 July 2023. At this Executive Committee meeting, the Chairman of the DPR Delegation, Fadli Zon, was asked as Vice President representing the Asian Group. Members of the BKSAP Delegation are Mulan Jameela and Arzeti Bilbina.
Various strategic things were expressed by the DPR Delegation during the meeting. "We highlight the urgency of implementing the strategic resolutions that have been adopted by PUIC, including regarding Palestine, multilateral trade cooperation between OIC countries, and the issue of Islamophobia," said Fadli Zon.
Fadli Zon urged PUIC to immediately take quick and appropriate steps to protect the Palestinian people from repeated crimes and without any sanctions imposed by Israeli forces. Israel's brutality is growing.
"We also invite OIC parliamentarians to encourage their respective governments to fully support Palestine in an effort to achieve full membership at the United Nations," said the Gerindra politician.
Still a Palestinian problem, Fadli Zon who is also the Vice President of the League of Parliamentarians for Al Quds warned of the dangers of yahudization Jerusalem, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque Holy Complex. As an attempt to fight yahudization, The OKI Parliament must ensure financial support to protect the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and its disgrace, especially Al-Haram Al-Sharif. We must ensure the implementation of support and development of economic empowerment programs for the Palestinian people," he asserted.
On the other hand, Fadli alluded to the important role of the OIC parliament's contribution in strengthening the implementation of the Trade Preferential System (Trad Preferential System) mechanism between OIC Member States.
Fadli also highlighted the issue of the blasphemy of the Qur'an that has resurfaced. We suggest Islamic countries continue to build and strengthen mutual understanding and realize more concrete cooperation with non-Muslim countries in the fields of religion, culture and civilization. We emphasize that this strategy in the future can prevent the blasphemy of the Qur'an or the blasphemy of other holy symbols of Islam," he explained.

Meanwhile, regarding the PUIC organization, the DPR Delegation conveyed a number of strengthening suggestions, namely, first, follow-up urgency of various PUIC organizational resolutions as the main goal of the establishment of PUIC. Second, improving the performance of the official PUIC virtual page and its social media apparatus. Third, the proposal is to make the date of the establishment of the PUIC, namely June 17, as the Day of the Islamic International Parliament. Fourth, increased transparency and substantive performance of PUIC.
To note, the Executive Commission session was attended by all its members, namely Indonesia, Iran, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan (Asian Group), Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia (Ar Arab Group), Burkina Faso, Chad, Mozambique, Niger (African Group), Algeria, Turkey, Ivory Coast (Troika).
The Executive Commission session was opened by the Speaker of the Ivory Coast Parliament, Adama Bictogo, and closed by the reading of Abidjan's Declaration which emphasized PUIC's commitment to making a positive contribution to various world challenges, especially related to Muslim countries.
In the midst of a visit to Abidjan, the BKSAP delegation also held a meeting with the Indonesian people on Ivory Coast. The meeting was hosted by Didin Wahyudin, the Indonesian LBBP Ambassador to the Senegal Republic concurrently with the Republic of Cabo Verde, the Republic of Gambia, the Republic of Guinea, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, the Republic of Mali, the Republic of Ivory Coast, and the Republic of Sierra Leone.
To Indonesian citizens at Ivory Coast, the BKSAP delegation explained the strategic value of DPR's parliamentary diplomacy, including its active role in PUIC. Delegations also listened to the aspirations of Indonesian citizens diaspora in Ivory Coast who mostly work as business people and professional workers and invited them to exercise their voting rights at the election next year.
