Saudi Human Rights Council Condemns Al-Quran Burning, Encourages Strengthening Tolerance
JAKARTA - The Human Rights Council (HAM) strongly condemns the act of burning a copy of the holy Koran in front of the Stockholm Mosque during the Eid al-Adha celebration.
In a statement released after the 11th session chaired by the President of the Saudi Arabian Human Rights Commission Hala Al Tuwaijri, the council condemned this action as a deliberate provocation that incites violence, hatred and creates setbacks in efforts to eradicate hate speech and radicalism.
As mentioned, the council promotes the values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace.
As reported by ANTARA from the Saudi Press Agency, Monday, July 10, the Council stressed the need for intensive steps to promote the values of tolerance and coexistence.
The institution also emphasizes the importance of upholding the Charter of Human Rights and relevant international conventions.
