SAM Air Plane Victim Samples Examined At Police DNA Laboratory

JAYAPURA - The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team of the Papuan Regional Police sent DNA samples of victims of the PK-SMW SAM Air plane crash to the DNA Laboratory of the National Police Medical and Health Center (Pusdokkes) in Jakarta.

"The sample brought by the two Papuan Police Dokkes personnel is in the form of the victim's body tissue and family blood samples as a comparison," said Head of the Papua Police Health Office, Kombes dr. Nariyana was reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 30.

He said the bodies of the six victims who had an accident on their way to Poik, Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains were not intact due to the burning of the plane.

The team had difficulty identifying so that what was done was sending specimens to match DNA with the family.

"The data on the six bodies has been carried out and for post mortem due to the condition of the bodies that cannot be checked for teeth or fingerprints, samples are taken for DNA examination," said dr. Nariyana.

The Head of Dokkes said the maximum DNA examination would last about two weeks.

The PK-SMW plane belonging to Semuwa Air (SAM Air), carrying four passengers namely Bartolomeus (34), Ebeth Halerohon (29), Dormina Halerohon (17), Kilimputni (20) with the Pilots Hari Permadi and Co Pilot Levi Murib had an accident while flying to Poik, Friday (23/6).

The joint SAR team on Tuesday (27/6) managed to evacuate the bodies of six PK-SMW victims who caught fire in the incident.
