Patah Tulang Rusuk Injury, Marc Marquez Absent In The Dutch MotoGP
JAKARTA - Repsol Honda racer, Marc Marquez will miss the Dutch MotoGP at the Assen Circuit on Sunday, June 25, 2023, after being declared not to be racing due to the discovery of a broken rib.
According to the team's official statement on Sunday, the condition exacerbated the injury he had suffered at the German MotoGP last week.
"As you know, I haven't arrived at Assen in 100 percent good physical condition. Apart from spraining and broken fingers, there are broken ribs that make me very painful," Marquez said, quoted from his official social media quoted by Antara.
The brother of Gresini Racing rider Alex Marquez revealed that he suffered tremendous pain on Sunday morning.
"I woke up this morning with tremendous pain. And after the examination, we have decided together with the medical team not to race today so it doesn't get worse and can recover in the following weeks. Thank you for your support! " he said.
Previously in the Dutch MotoGP Sprint race session, Marquez was also in contact with Ducati driver Lenovo Enea Bastianini, who then caused him to fall. This also followed the last few races before the Dutch GP, Marquez often fell so that he could not finish the race.
The Spaniard said he started the Dutch MotoGP Sprint well, until finally he only managed to finish in 17th position. The accident that happened to him also worsened his physical condition until the pain in the chest began to be felt.
I started the race very well. I was able to make a lot of good positions on the first lap. Then I calmed down a little bit and tried to focus on myself. I suffered a little more (during Sprint) with my ribs, especially in terms of breathing and using my chest in the best way possible," he said.
Meanwhile, the Dutch MotoGP will start on Sunday at 19.00 WIB.
