Democrat Party Welcomes Positive Plan To Meet Puan Maharani - AHY

Secretary General of the Democratic Party Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that his party responded positively to the plan for a meeting between the chairman of the PDI-P DPP Puan Maharani and the Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).

According to Riefky, in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday, the Democratic Party is always open to communicating with all political parties including the PDI-P.

"For this reason, we respect and appreciate the door of communication that has been conveyed through an open statement by the Secretary General of PDIP, Mas Hasto," he said, quoted by Antara.

Riefky stated that the Democrats welcomed the plan to meet Puan and AHY considering the capacity of the two.

"Two young leaders who look to the future and a better tomorrow for our nation and country together," he said.

Riefky believes that the meeting will not be limited to a cooperation offer in the context of the 2024 Presidential Election contestation.

"But we can also discuss various problems of the nation for the realization of a united, advanced, just, democratic and prosperous Indonesia," he said.

Previously, on Saturday (10/6), PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, revealed the plan to meet Puan-AHY while still affirming that his party still respects political ethics in the framework of inter-party cooperation, considering that the Democrats are currently in a coalition with the NasDem Party and PKS.

"Later, Mbak Puan will meet with Mr. AHY to have a dialogue," said Hasto in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta.

The plan for the meeting emerged a few days after the name AHY was mentioned by Puan as one of the considerations by the PDI-P to become a candidate for vice president to accompany Ganjar Pranowo.

Apart from AHY, a number of other names mentioned by Puan were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and General Chair of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto, and Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil.
