Elderly Hajj Candidate From Cianjur Dies In Medina
CIANJUR - Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Cianjur Regency, West Java, noted that a prospective hajj candidate from Cianjur, Nia Kurniasih (83), died in the Holy Land of Saudi Arabia due to illness and will be buried in Medina.
Head of the Hajj and Umrah Organizing Section of the Ministry of Religion Cianjur, Rian Fauzi, said that the prospective Hajj pilgrim from Muka Village, Cianjur District, had received treatment for several days at the Indonesian Hajj Health Office (KKHI) Medina.
"The prospective pilgrim is a member of the JKS 02 Group and is a KBIHU Attaqwa congregation, died in Medina (Wednesday 31/5/2023). He received treatment at KKHI, for several days before finally dying," said Rian, quoted by ANTARA, Friday 2 June.
His party ensured that the bodies of the pilgrims who died in the Holy Land could not be brought back to the country and would be buried in Medina, after informing the family who had agreed with the decision.
Meanwhile, to find out the exact cause of the death of the prospective Hajj candidate from Cianjur, his party is still waiting for the results of the doctor's examination who handled it. "We are still waiting for the results of the doctor's examination in Medina regarding the exact cause," said Rian.
Rian said that before his departure his party had asked prospective pilgrims to maintain their health because the weather in the Holy Land was very different from Cianjur, while the prospective pilgrims from Cianjur had only been in the Holy Land for eight days.

"Only the first batch will depart for the Holy Land, while the other three groups will depart this week and next week. We will emphasize again regarding maintaining health for Cianjur pilgrims who have not left," he said.
He added that the quota for the Cianjur Hajj in 2023 was 1,355 people divided into four groups. The first batch had departed on May 23, the second batch departed on June 5, the third batch departed on June 16, and the fourth batch or joint group departed on June 21.
