Wins French League 1 Champion, PSG President: Results Of 12 Years Of Hard Work
JAKARTA - Paris Saint Germain (PSG) President Nasser Al Khelaifi revealed that the French League or Ligue 1 title won by Le Parisiens for the 11th time was a form of hard work carried out over the past 12 years.
"The 11th title of the French League champions is a reward for all the hard work we have done over the past 12 years. Making Ligue 1 history and overtaking Saint-Etienne is a real source of pride," said Paris Saint Germain (PSG) President Nasser Al Khelaifi as quoted by the club's official website, quoting Antara, Sunday, May 29.
PSG confirmed the title after a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg at Stade de la Meinau Stadium on Saturday, May 27, local time or Sunday morning WIB.
Lionel Messi's one goal from Lionel Messi's left-footed strike in the 59th minute was equalized by Stasbourg's Kevin Gameiro in the 79th minute after taking advantage of the rebound ball.
The draw was enough for PSG to win the title in Week 37 because the points could not be chased by Lens who was in second place. PSG has collected 85 points ahead of Lens.
The title of champion this season has made the club based in the French capital achieve its 11th title in the history of the club's founding. The title also made PSG the most successful club to win the league title overtaking the Saint-Etienne club record.
"We will celebrate this title next Saturday at the Parc des Princes when we face Clermont," said Nasser Al Khelaifi.
PSG will play their last match of the French League against Clermont Foot at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris on June 4. In that last match, PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi will hold a big celebration for the title which will be summarized by Christophe Galtier's squad.
