Meta Introduces Ad Placement In Instagram Search Results Via Instagram Marketing API

JAKARTA - In March, Meta announced a new trial to present advertisements on Instagram search results. And now, the placement of this new ad is available through the API Marketing.

"Starting today, we are allowing advertisements on Instagram search results via Instagram Marketing API. These new ad placements will be available across all current versions of the API Marketing, and do not require improvement," the company wrote in its blog, quoted Friday, May 26.

Therefore, with the placement of this new ad, Instagram users will now see advertisements appear in their search results feed.

For example, if you browse "Skincare", then you will see relevant ads in search results feed. You can find out the difference between ads and regular posts via the Sponsor label under the account name.

"With this new addition, you will be able to update your app to allow your client to create and preview ads in Instagram search results via API," explains Meta.

The placement of these new ads serves as a way to enhance Meta's ability to attract revenue at a time when the company grapples with weak demand for advertising.

After reporting a three-quarter decline in advertising sales, the company's advertising revenue increased by around 4.1 percent in the first quarter of 2023.

While announcing advertisements in search results, the social network also launched advertisements, designed to make it easier for businesses to announce, remind and notify people of upcoming events or launches that might be of interest to them.

The function of this Admark is to help advertisers build awareness and anticipation for upcoming events. Users can select reminders and receive three notifications from Instagram: a reminder one day before event or launch, 15 minutes before and at event or launch.
