Starting In Central Java, LSD Livestock Is Now Found In Garut

GARUT - The Fisheries and Livestock Service (Disanak) of Garut Regency, West Java has prepared an animal health team to be aware of the spread of the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) virus skin disease outbreak in cattle and buffalo whose cases have now begun to be found in a number of areas.

"Now it is Lumpy Skin Disease or LSD that is worried about, the symptoms of skin disease," said Head of Garut Regency Diskanak Sofyan Yani, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 25.

He said that cases of disease attacking cattle and buffalo began to be found in the Central Java area, then reportedly appeared in several other areas.

Including the Garut area, he said, it was also reported that the first LSD case was found in Kadungora District, then spread over several other areas whose numbers are not yet known because they are still being recorded in the field.

"Initially it happened in Central Java, then it spread to Garut, the first time it appeared in Kadungora," said Sofyan.

He conveyed that the emergence of the outbreak of attacking livestock did not cause danger or spread to humans, but only had an effect on the growth of livestock itself.

The disease in livestock, he said, is the same as previous cases such as mouth and nail disease (PMK) which can only be transmitted to other animals, not to humans.

"It is not contagious to humans such as bird flu, LSD only affects the growth conditions of exposed animals," he said.

He explained that the symptoms of LSD skin disease are as common, namely kudis, then there is a lump on the skin, even so it must still be a concern to be prevented and treated because it will affect the growth of these livestock.

Diskanak Garut, he said, had prepared a team of animal health and medicines and vaccinations for livestock to stay healthy and not be easily attacked by various diseases.

"Handling of exposed animals will be given antibiotics to vitamins, we will try to prevent them," said Sofyan.
