Land Shifting Disaster, 23 Houses In Bojongkoneng Bogor Damaged

A total of 23 housing units in three villages, Bojongkoneng Village, Bogor Regency, West Java, were damaged by natural disasters shifting land.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Aris Nurjatmiko said that the disaster was triggered by heavy rain that occurred on Friday night at around 23.00 WIB.

"Because of the long rain, several villages and houses were affected by land shifts," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, May 21.

Aris explained that the 23 affected housing units suffered various damages, ranging from cracks to the walls, to subsided floors.

The Bogor Regency BPBD noted that 17 units of lightly damaged houses were inhabited by 17 families consisting of 68 people, and six units of damaged houses being inhabited by six families consisting of 20 people.

"For now, the shift in land in Tapos Village, Cibingbin Village and Garungsang Village, if it rains again, it is feared that there will be a shift again and it will increase," said Aris.

Previously in that area, there had also been a land shift disaster on September 14, 2022.

At that time, the shift in land occurred more severely which caused the destruction of the village road along one kilometer and 23 buildings to be damaged.

The shift in land, which began with the crack in the surface of the village road, also made 24 people flee to the residence of relatives.
