Apple Will Release IMessage Contact Key Verification For Protection From Hacking

JAKARTA - Apple plans to include the iMessage ignition key verification in 2023. This feature has begun to appear in the recently released versions of iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 beta.

According to the company, the feature will help users deal with digital threats, including protecting Appe users' conversations from irresponsible parties such as hackers.

Late last year, this feature was also announced that Apple would launch in 2023.

And now, more than two weeks before the start of WWDC 2023, it looks like the feature is in the testing phase and is being released for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6.

The first beta version of the Operating System (OS) shows the feature is present within the 'Settings' app, but it doesn't appear to be enabled yet.

Meanwhile, MacRumors claims it can be based on the fact that the company has not fully implemented contact key verification to iMessage.

If the feature is perfect, iMessage users who activate the feature in the conversation will receive an automatic warning when Apple detects hackers have added the software to the account.

In addition, Apple will also provide information on how bad actors manage to penetrate cloud servers or find ways to monitor encrypted communications.

Apple claims the feature can protect activists, government officials and journalists from state-sponsored hackers.

This is one of the last features Apple expects to add to iOS 16 before the company shifts its full attention to iOS 17.

For additional security, users can verify each other by directly comparing contact verification codes, via FaceTime, or through other secure communications.
