DLH Makassar Monitors Tallo River Subsidiaries Allegedly Polluted

MAKASSAR - Acting Head of the Makassar City Government Environment Agency (DLH) Ferdy Mochtar monitors the tributary of the Tallo River which is suspected of being polluted by the company's waste around the river.

"From the residents' reports, many river fish died and the condition of the water was black, we have also visited the location, it is concluded that the condition of the river has been damaged," said Ferdy in Makassar as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 17.

He said the condition of the Tallo River tributary had been polluted and had a negative impact on the health of residents who had been itching lately.

Regarding the direct impact caused by local residents, his party is ready to summon the company along with administrative checks related to the new regulations from the central government regarding the legal basis of PP No.5/2021 concerning the Implementation of Risk-Based Business Licensing and PP No. 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management.

Meanwhile, Head of RT 01, RW 02 Bontoa Selatan, Parangloe Haji Durrahman Village suspected that there was an omission process by a number of companies that deliberately threw wastewater into the river's channel.

He said that so far there have been no problems with tributaries which are one of the sources of life for their citizens.

However, this week the smell of rot and the color of the dark river water are questions from residents in Bontoa.

Not to mention that the Tallo River tributary is the location of the livelihoods of local residents, at least there are around 50 fishing boats serving the crossing or looking for fish at the mouth of the river.

In this regard, Durrahman hopes that the government or related parties will immediately investigate companies polluting rivers that have a direct impact on the local community and also threaten river and coastal biota.
