Bintan Police Secure Two Perpetrators Of Forest And Land Burning
The Bintan Police, Riau Islands Police (Kepri), arrested two men who were perpetrators of forest and land fires to open plantation areas.
"Two perpetrators with the initials KH (36) and MR (58). Residents of Toapaya District, Bintan Regency," said Bintan Police Chief, AKBP Riky Iswoyo.
The Bintan Police Chief explained that the incident began on Friday (12/5), where forest and land fires occurred in Kangboi Village, North Toapaya Village, Toapaya District.
Furthermore, the fire that burned the forest and land was successfully extinguished by the joint personnel of the Gunung Kijang Police, the Bintan Police Sat Samapta and assisted by the local community.
"The Bintan Police have deployed Water Canon cars to extinguish the fire, as well as manually extinguishing it with makeshift equipment," he said.
After being investigated, said the police chief, it turned out that the land belonged to the KH perpetrator who was deliberately burned with the intention of clearing the pineapple plantation land.

In the action, KH was assisted by another perpetrator MR with a salary of Rp. 2 million. Both of them opened an area of one hectare by slashing, cleaning and burning it.
"The area of the land that burned was about 1.5 hectares, fortunately the fire was extinguished thanks to the readiness of joint officers for forest and land fires," said the Bintan Police Chief.
He continued that currently the two perpetrators KH and MR have been detained and are still in the process of further investigation. Their actions violated Article 108 Juncto Article 56 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 39 of 2014 concerning Plantation and or Article 187 Paragraph ( 1) of the Criminal Code and or Article 188 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum fine of IDR 10 billion.
