Carry Out Supervision, Ministry Of Trade Removes 64,583 Imported Used Clothing Sales Links In E-commerce
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade through the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) conducts cyber patrols and has removed (take down) 64,583 links containing content on the sale of used imported clothing through electronic trading platforms (e-commerce).
Acting Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) Moga Simatupang emphasized that he would continue to supervise the import of used clothing activities.
In addition to direct supervision to the field and the destruction of used imported clothes.
"Based on cyber patrols that have been carried out since March 2023, the Ministry of Trade has collaborated with several marketplaces to remove 64,497 advertisements for selling used clothing from electronic imports," he said in an official statement, Sunday, May 14.
In addition, Moga said, his party is also coordinating with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) to remove 81 electronic advertisements through social commerce, such as Facebook and Instagram.
"Apart from that, we also blocked 5 online retail sites selling used imported clothes," he said.
In detail, as many as 28,000 links were removed from Tokopedia, 6,468 links from Bukalapak, 370 links from Blibli, 28,462 links from Shopee, 300 links from Lazada, and 3,897 links from TikTok Shop. Furthermore, 31 links from Facebook, 23 links from Instagram, and 27 links from TikTok Shop.

Moga emphasized that business actors who advertise and sell used clothing from imports through electronic systems have violated the provisions of the ban on advertising as stipulated in Article 80 in conjunction with Article 35 of PP Number 80 of 2019 concerning Trade Through Electronic Systems.
In addition, violating Article 47 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 50 of 2020 concerning Provisions for Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance, and Supervision of Business Actors in Trade Through Electronic Systems.
Furthermore, Moga also requested that e-commerce business actors not sell or advertise used imported clothes.
"Business actors on commercial-el platforms are obliged to ensure that their product advertisements do not conflict with statutory regulations regarding advertising and the ban on the sale of used clothing from imports," he said.

In line with this, Director of Commerce Order Tommy Andana added, the Ministry of Trade will continue to supervise the sale of used clothing from imports on trading platforms in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
"This is done as an effort by the Ministry of Trade in following up on President Joko Widodo's direction to protect the domestic textile industry and the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) industry from the entry of imported goods that are prohibited or illegal," concluded Tommy.
