Registering Candidates To KPU, PDIP Shows Cultural Parade Iringan

The PDI-P DPP group left for the General Election Commission (KPU) office on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Central Jakarta, to register candidates for legislative members (caleg) with a cultural parade accompaniment.

"The PDI-P DPP group will walk and some will board to the Central KPU office. There is a defile that enlivens the registration atmosphere. The plan is to move from the DPP office at 09.00 WIB," said PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 11.

The sequence of defiles to the KPU office began with a black bull drum of the PDI-P corpBKN, a paskibra team, and a BhinnekaTunggal Ikayang team wearing traditional clothes.

"Then there are representatives of RedMe, angklung, female berkabaya consisting of mothers and millennials, male millennials from Java, ondel-ondel, and dance and a series of andong," he explained.

Hasto said the group would move neatly, orderly, and not bring the masses to this registration.

"We emphasize that there is no mass mobilization in this registration. The defile that participated today is a form of PDI-P's concern for the culture of the archipelago," he added.

He said the simultaneous registration was also carried out throughout Indonesia.

"Registration of all legislative candidates from districts, cities, and provinces and central levels will be carried out simultaneously on May 11 at 10:00 local time throughout Indonesia starting with attendance registration at 08.00 am," said Hasto.

All administrative equipment has been carried out and all candidates for legislative members have been carefully prepared, he said, because they have gone through various stages before being designated as candidates.

The registration of candidates for DPR members for all electoral districts (dapil) will be carried out by the central leadership of political parties by visiting the KPU office in Jakarta.

Then, for the candidates for provincial DPRD members to be registered by provincial-level political party officials to the respective provincial KPUs and prospective candidates for district and city DPRD members, political party administrators will be registered at the district and city levels at the respective district and city KPU offices.

Meanwhile, registration of candidates for DPD RI members can only be registered by prospective candidates who have met the requirements for support to the provincial KPU. The KPU has determined 700 candidates for DPD RI candidates to meet the minimum requirements for voter support and distribution to participate in the 2024 General Election.

The KPU serves the registration of candidates for the 2024 General Election with operating hours at 08.00-16.00 local time for May 1-13, 2023 and 08.00-23.59 on the last day of registration on May 14, 2023.
