British Companies Turn Classic Mini Into Electric Power, Reach 128 Km Once Cas
JAKARTA - British company Electrogenic introduced powertrain 'plug and play'. They can turn classic Mini into electric power.
Quoted from the Autocar page, Friday, May 5, the power conversion specialist exchanged the Mini A-Series engine for a water-cooled electric motor that can produce 59 dk of power and 135 Nm of torque.
Of course, this is a significant increase compared to the previously loved machines with a power of 33 dk and a torque of 59 Nm at the 1959 Mini output.
In addition to being more powerful than its original engine, the powertrain produces a power equivalent to the twin-port injection machine in the 1997-2000 production Mini Rover which produces 62 dk and 94 Nm torque.
For the resources in this car, Electrogenic provides a 20 kWh battery pack which has a range of up to 128 km if run in urban areas. However, the resulting distance can be reduced if the car is traveling on a faster road.
Steve Drummond, co-founder of Electronic, revealed that his party had studied the powertrain for years so that it could be transferred to the classic Mini. He also claims that this electric drive is easy to install and cost-effective.
"We've been onboarding a number of beautiful Minis over the years to drive electricity and have seen significant demand for easily installed and budget-friendly solutions," Drummond said.

Drummond added that the powertrain created by it provides impressive resilience, especially for urban areas.
"It turns an iconic classical Mini into the ideal and perfect modern city engine to explore the city cleanly and reliably," added Drummond.
The Electronic electricity package will be sold this fall, which is offered for 15,000 pounds or around IDR 278.2 million.
This isn't the first time Electrogenic has made an electric conversion package on a classic vehicle. The company has also made the package on other old-school cars, such as Citroen DS, Land Rover Defender, and Jaguar E-Type.
