Gucci To Hold A Clothing Show At The Seoul Joseon Dynasty Palace This Month
JAKARTA - A well-known Italian brand, Gucci, is planned to hold a fashion show at the royal palace in Seoul this month, about six months after the event was canceled due to a crowd in Itaewon during Halloween.
Gucci plans to showcase a cruise collection for 2024 ahead of Geunjeongjeon, the main hall of Gyeongbok Palace, in downtown Seoul on May 16.
Geunjeongjeon himself was used to hold a royal grand ceremony and receive foreign envoys during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).
Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri said in a statement that his party decided to hold a fashion show at Gyeongbok Palace because this place is a place that remembers the past and inspires the future.
The event was originally scheduled for November 1 last year, but was canceled after a total of 159 people died in a crowd of people jostling during Halloween celebrations in the Itaewon neighborhood, Seoul on October 29.
The global fashion house also plans to sponsor Seoul cultural heritage authorities for three years to help preserve the royal palace.
