AHY Surprised That Political Competition For The 2024 Presidential Election Even Makes Political Parties Enmity

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) assessed that the meeting of high-ranking party officials and PKB at Puri Cikeas, Bogor, West Java was a form of political maturity.

AHY explained that political maturity must still be built so that communication and dialogue between political parties remain, even though the choices and positions taken are different.

"We exchanged ideas, exchanged notes, the discussion was very fluid. Of course I want to hear directly what Gus Muhaimin and PKB friends have, and vice versa, and it's healthy. I think here there is an maturity in politics, which should be built like that," AHY said during a press conference after a meeting between PKB officials and Democrats in Cikeas as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 3.

He considered that there should be no hostility in politics.

"What I like is often confused if there is political power that feels basically I'm here, you are there, there is a thick demarcation line. You are forever my enemy and opponent. It's not healthy, it also feels less flexible," said AHY.

Therefore, AHY believes that the meeting between PKB and Democrats in Cikeas is also a reflection so that in the future similar communication models will become a tradition that continues to be treated in national politics.

PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar and several ranks of the PKB central board visited the residence of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Puri Cikeas, Bogor. PKB officials also met and discussed with SBY, AHY, and the Democratic central board for more than 1 hour.

After the meeting at SBY's private library, AHY and Muhaimin continued to meet face-to-face for more than 30 minutes.

During the one-on-one meeting, Muhaimin admitted that he was trying to persuade Democrats to join the grand coalition, which he, and Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto, who represented the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB).

However, AHY, according to Muhaimin, still firmly brought the Democrats to join the Coalition for Change, which has promoted Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"After meeting, it turned out that her faith was strong, because her faith was strong, I had to be careful to say it," said Muhaimin.

However, AHY dismissed the political maneuvers carried out by PKB and Democrats during a meeting with SBY, and a meeting between him and Muhaimin.

"In the four-eye meeting, there was actually nothing too far away, too much to be considered a decisive political maneuver, because in fact we continue to process, communicate respecting differences, respecting each position," said the Chairman of the Democrats.
