Sukamiskin Corruptor Prison Gives 208 Eid Remissions, Including Setya Novanto

Head of the Sukamiskin Penitentiary (Lapas) Bandung City, West Java, Kunrat Kasmiri said that as many as 208 inmates in the prison received remission for Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah, including convicted corruption convict Setya Novanto.

Kunrat said the number of prisoners in Sukamiskin Prison was 309 people. Of that number, he said, only 208 people met the requirements to get remission.

"Remission varies, some are one month; 1.5 months; some are two months," said Kunrat at Sukamiskin Prison, Bandung City, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 22.

The remission was given based on Law Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections. According to Kunrat, the requirements for getting remission include having to behave well and having entered the period of getting remission.

He added that of the 208 inmates who received remission for reducing their sentence, no one immediately breathed free air.

On Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri, the Sukamiskin Prison held Eid prayers in the field area. Inmates who are Muslim attend the Eid prayer.

After the Eid prayer, the Sukamiskin Prison invited the inmates to receive visits from their respective families. The visit to the inmates on Eid day lasted for three days starting at 09.00-16.00 WIB.

"We provide an understanding that only the nuclear family may visit," said Kunrat.
