Vele Indonesia Carry Factory With Low Carbon Intensity
JAKARTA - CEO of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PT Vale) Febriany Eddy was also one of the speakers at the Hannover Messe international forum in Germany.
In his presentation, Febriany said that PT Vale consistently applies the principle of sustainable mining in Indonesia.
"Operation Sorowako is the lowest carbon intensity RKEF nickel factory in Indonesia, because it is supported by three hydroelectric power plants (PLTA) with a capacity of 365 megawatts built and operated by PT Vale," Febry said in his presentation quoted on Saturday, April 22.
He added that the merger process entirely uses renewable energy sources. In addition to carrying out progressive reclamation within the mining area, PT Vale also carries out a reforestation program outside the concession area with a current area of about 250 percent larger than the area of land that PT Vale has opened for mining operations.
One other example of PT Vale's ongoing commitment is investment for Education. PT Vale through its foundation runs kindergarten to engineering academies, with a graduate of around 2,500 students each year. The company also fosters cooperation with universities, including by supporting the Metalurgi Engineering study program at Hasanuddin University recently.
"Not only focusing on academic development, we also emphasize the importance of sustainable practice in every aspect of our lives, this is to educate the younger generation to develop a sustainable Indonesia," continued Febri.
Febri said he was proud because Vale gave priority to the nation's children to contribute as a company talent. "We have around 3,000 workers, 99.7 percent of Indonesian citizens, including me. Vale has a commitment to develop Indonesian talent. So, there is an intention and program to develop talent," he explained.
