Dozens Of Officials Participated In Being Arrested By The KPK With The Regent Of Meranti
JAKARTA - Dozens of Meranti Islands Regency Government (Pemkab) officials were also caught in a sting operation (OTT) with the Regent of Meranti Islands Muhammad Adil by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said Adil and dozens of other officials were arrested by the KPK when the practice of alleged corruption was being carried out on Thursday, April 6 evening.
"So far, dozens of strategic officials within the Meranti Islands Regency Government have been arrested by the KPK. There are also private parties," Ali told reporters, Friday, April 7.
The KPK brought Adil, dozens of Meranti Islands Regency Government officials, and private parties to Jakarta from the location of the arrest this morning.
"The KPK team immediately took him to Jakarta for an examination at the KPK's Red and White Building this morning. The information was temporarily scheduled from the crime scene at around 10 o'clock," Ali explained.
Ali revealed that the investigative team also brought evidence in the form of money from the OTT. However, it is not clear how much money the KPK also confiscated.
"A little or a lot of it is the same as a corruption act, even accepting an appointment if there is a transaction related to the abuse of office as an organizer that has been categorized as a criminal act of corruption," he said.
Furthermore, Ali has not detailed what corruption cases ensnared Adil and a number of people who were arrested. Ali said that currently the anti-corruption agency is still gathering further information.
"Currently the KPK team is still working. We continue to collect information from several parties," said Ali.
