Porsche Celebrates 5,000 Porsche Cup 911 Racing Cars

JAKARTA - For more than two decades, Porsche Motorsport has produced more than 5,000 911 Cup racing cars that have spread across various racing events.

The 911 Cup race car was first built in 1990 for the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland competition and since then, the 911 Cup has become the most widely produced race car worldwide.

Quoted from Motor1, Saturday, April 1, 2023, the car has spread to 34 one-make racing series that are included in one model approved by Porsche which is contested globally. The 911 Cup car has certainly evolved from a technology base production model to a pure racing car.

Currently, Porsche uses the 911 GT3 Cup series 992 model to be included in various racing events. Not only that, the car also has several safety features with computer assistance, dog-box sequential transmission with a steering wheel pedal, carbon fiber body, and a complete cockpit component, as well as a rear wing that meets racing standards.

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is equipped with a 6-cylinder boxer engine that can power 503 dk, of course, this power is equivalent to the road version.

According to Oliver Koppen, One-Make Series and GT Sporr Manager, Porsche Motorsport Sales, revealed that with Cup 911 production reaching 5,000 units, it was a great success in Porsche Motorsport's history.

"More than 5,000 Cup 911 this impressive figure symbolizes the great success of our Porsche one-make cup around the world which is second to none. It also represents the high-level popularity that Porsche enjoys among teams, racing professionals, young racers, and amateur racers around the world. No other Porsche racing cars are produced in large numbers or more frequently in racing, "said Oliver Koppen, as quoted by Motor1, Saturday, April 1, 2023.

For your information, the 911 Cup race car is produced in the same place as the production of Porsche 911 at Stuttgart's main facility, Zuffenhausen, with an eight-hour construction time.

In celebrating the achievement of producing more than 5,000 cars, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup special edition will be included in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup which will later be driven by leading guest racers. The racing car will later have a special color pattern.
