Aceh Village In Batam Famous For Drug Trafficking, Police: We Will Dismantle The Building Tomorrow Paired With CCTV

The Barelang Police carried out the demolition of a number of semi-permanent buildings in Aceh Simpang DAM Village, Sei Beduk District, Batam City, Riau Islands, after drug trafficking and gambling activities were found in the area.

Head of the Barelang Police, Senior Commissioner of the Nugroho Tri Police in Batam, the demolition operation was carried out together with joint officers from the TNI/Polri and the Batam City Civil Service Police Unit.

"In this operation there were about 200 joint officers who were deployed to carry out the demolition. In addition, the demolition was also assisted by the surrounding community," he said.

This demolition was welcomed by the public to remove the stigma against the Simpang Dam or Aceh Village which is more often known as the location for drug trafficking.

Nugroho appealed to the perpetrators of drug abuse who were still around and wanted to emerge to surrender and end their crimes.

"If they appear, we will wait for those who are waiting. If they dare to appear, we will immediately arrest them," he said.

After this demolition, added the Chief of Police, his party will continue the narcotics eradication and gambling program in the area by installing surveillance cameras in several locations.

"After this, there will be a meeting with the regional police chief and also residents to discuss the installation of CCTV in several locations," he said.
