Imports From Argentina Drop 40 Million US Dollars, What's Up?

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported a significant decline in imports from Argentina in May 2023.

BPS Deputy for Balance and Statistics Analysis Moh Edy Mahmud said the drop in imports from Argentina was the biggest compared to other countries.

"The biggest decline in imports in May 2023 against April 2023 came from Argentina with a value of 40.5 million US dollars," he said during a press conference today, Thursday, June 15.

Edy explained that the drop in foreign trade with the country of origin of footballer Lionel Messi was equivalent to 35.82 percent month to month (MTM).

"The largest decline occurred in the waste commodity and the rest of the food industry or HS 23. Followed later with a facilitation commodity code HS 10 and tools and equipment from metals that are not noble or code HS 82," he said.

The next largest decline came from the Egyptian state with a contraction value of 23.6 million dollars and Kazakhstan of 9.7 million US dollars.

Meanwhile, for the whole, Indonesia's import value in May 2023 reached 21.28 billion US dollars.

The book rose 38.65 percent compared to April 2023, an increase of 14.35 percent compared to May 2022.

Indonesia's export value in May 2023 reached 21.72 billion US dollars, an increase of 12.61 percent compared to exports in April 2023. Then compared to May 2022, the export value increased by 0.96 percent.
