Mazda Intends To Enliven The High-Sex Car Market

JAKARTA - Toyota with Gazoo Racing (GR) has introduced high-performance cars since 2007 and launched several models, including GR Yaris, GR Corolla, and even GR Supra. Hyundai is also not left behind with its N division which presents Ioniq 5 N, Elantra N, i20 N, and Kona N.

Mazda also seems to want to compete again in this segment by introducing the high-performance concept of Mazda3 Hatchback and MX-5 Miata at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 event under the Mazda Spirit Racing division.

Mazda Spirit Racing, based in Hiroshima, Japan, is devoted to presenting a high-performance car and is considered a replacement for the previous name, Mazdasped, who has been inactive for a long time.

Quoted from CarBuzz, Monday, January 15, this division has been involved in the Super Taikyu racing series since 2021, giving them time to develop the concepts of these two models. The company plans to continue participation in future motorsport activities.

The car developed by the division has a touch of sporty with red accents on the bumper, brakes, and rearview mirrors, similar to its rivals like Nissan Nismo and Hyundai N.

In the MX-5 model, this roadster displays a red accent on the interior to increase its aggressive impression, as well as a center marker in the steering circle which is an indicator to stabilize the steering wheel. This car is equipped with aero kits, while Mazda3 Hatchback gets additional rear wings.

Mazda MX-5, which is experiencing development, is likely to continue using a 2.0 liter machine like the standard version, but will get special tuning on the suspension and rim. As for Mazda3, the specifications have not yet been disclosed.

Unfortunately, Mazda is still keeping it a secret whether the two models will be mass produced. Most likely, the presence of this high-performance brand will be an interesting spotlight and trigger competition with Gazoo Racing and Nismo.
