JAKARTA - The recall was carried out by General Motors (GM) after an autonomous car of its subsidiary, Cruise, Robotaxi suddenly hit the back of a city bus in San Francisco on March 23, 2023.

This accident, after being identified for damage to the ADS software system, inaccurately predicts the movement of cooperating vehicles in several situations.

One of them is that this system predicts incorrectly in feeling the vehicle at the front and back. Even though the vehicle is running slowly, the ADS system can mispredict in determining the vehicle in front that is blocking it from moving forward or not.

Quoted from Motor1, Saturday, April 8, 2023, software updates will soon be made to all affected vehicles on March 25 and beyond to prevent system errors from occurring. The problematic ADS software is issued on January 12, 2023.

So far, only one accident has occurred due to this problem. Cruise has submitted a recall report as a form of prevention.

In total, there are 300 units of vehicles affected by the recall. Despite problems with autonomous vehicles, this has not stopped Cruise from expanding its operations in producing the wheelless car.

Cruise has started operations since last year in San Francisco, the steeringless taxi has been operating in major cities, some of which Austin and Phoenix.
