JAKARTA - Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto want to qualify with their colleagues, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, to the semifinals of the BWF World Tour Finals 2023.

The two men's doubles are confirmed to both belong to Group B in the draw which took place Monday, December 11, 2023, WIB night. To qualify, they must finish as the two best.

"There was indeed a plus-minus when we and Bagas/Fikri joined the same group, but hopefully we can show our best and both qualify for the semifinals," said Rian.

Fajar/Rian and Bagas/Fikri are in the same group as the South Korean pair, Kang Min-hyuk/Seo Seung-jae, as well as Danish representatives, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.

The four men's doubles will face each other later. Two who finish as group winners and runners-up will get tickets to the semifinals.

Fajar said that there are certainly no opponents in the group phase. The reason is, those who get tickets to this event are singles or doubles in the top eight ranking BWF.

"Yes, there is no choice because all those who escaped here were eight very good players, very good. So, it's the same and must be ready to meet anyone," said Fajar.

Meanwhile, the men's doubles Group A is filled with Chinese duo, Liang Wei Berkek/Wang Chang and Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi, Malaysian pair Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, and Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi from Japan.

The BWF World Tour Finals 2023 will take place on December 13-17, 2023 at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Hangzhou, China.

Apart from Fajar/Rian and Bagas/Fikri, Indonesia also has men's and women's singles as well as women's doubles.

Men's singles fielded Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie, then from the women's singles there was Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. Finally, the women's doubles was represented by Apriyani Rahayu Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
