Herry IP Officially Changes The Role Of Mixed Doubles Coach

JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) officially appointed Herry Iman Pierngadi or Herry IP as the mixed doubles head coach at the Cipayung national training center (Pelatnas).

The new position for Herry IP was announced by the national badminton parent on Friday, September 1, 2023. The coach has also agreed to this new task.

"After this, Herry will immediately create a training program including deciding who will accompany him as assistant coach," PBSI wrote in a statement.

"Herry, who is already very experienced, is expected to be able to share his knowledge in mixed doubles so that Rehan/Lisa and friends can achieve again," they added.

Herry IP before being the head coach in the men's doubles sector. The posts left by Herry in that sector will be occupied by Aryono Miranat and Thomas Indratjaja.

"PP PBSI hopes that this appointment can have a positive impact on both sectors, especially the target of passing the players to the 2024 Paris Olympics and keeping the Olympic gold medal tradition maintained," wrote PBSI.

In addition, PP PBSI also decided not to appoint Djoko Mardianto, who had undergone trials as a coach some time ago.

PP PBSI assesses that Djoko's performance has not met the needs and criteria of mixed doubles coaches who are focusing on chasing points in the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers.

"PP PBSI expresses its appreciation to Djoko for trying to contribute to Indonesian badminton even though he has not been involved in the badminton world for a long time," they explained.
