Calling Singing To His Challenging Solo Project, Chris Shiptt: Playing Guitar Is My Comfort Zone

JAKARTA - Chris Shiflett discussed his duties as a vocalist in his solo project. He described it with the word challenging'.

The main singer and guitarist of Foo Fighters has released three solo albums since 2017. However, as he revealed in a recent interview, he felt more at home next to stage as a Foo Fighters guitarist than being in the main spotlight as a frontman.

Speaking to Classic Rock, he described the transition to being a vocalist as something 'challenging', adding: 'Playing guitar is my comfort zone.'

But to be a singer and also have to talk to the audience, I have to believe. What you realize is that people want to have fun. They hire caregivers, buy tickets, buy some drinks, maybe buy t-shirts, they invest at night.

“Jadi itu tugas saya di atas panggung, memberikan mereka waktu yang menyenangkan,” lanjutnya. “Setelah saya mengetahuinya, segalanya menjadi jauh lebih baik.”

Shiflett announced details of the UK and Ireland tour, which will take place in March 2024. He will open the tour with a show at the Dublin Academy on March 20. From there, he will continue his journey to Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, before closing on March 27 at the Electric Ballroom in London.

The guitarist joined Foo Fighters in 1999, shortly after the release of their third album There Is Nothing Left to Lose. He has taken part in all eight Foos albums since then.

In October, he released his third solo studio album, 'Lost At Sea', which was mostly written during the lockdown due to COVID-19. The release comes just months after Foo Fighters released 'But Here We Are', their first recording without the late drummer Taylor Hawkins.
