The 2023 Riau Islands Province oil and gas lifting was recorded above the state budget target set by the government, which was 12.720 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) or reached 111 percent of the target.

In 2024, the liquiding target will continue to increase which will reach around 17,491 BOPD.

This was conveyed by the Head of the North Sumatra (Sumbagut) SKK Migas Representative, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus during a working visit at the beginning of the year with the ranks of the Riau Islands Provincial Government and a visit received directly by the Governor of the Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad at the Tanjung Pinang City Regional Building,

"For the 2024 work plan, the lifting target is expected to meet the APBN target which is increased to 17.491 BOPD and 229 MMSCFD gas. This gas distribution achievement contributes around 7 percent to national achievement," said Rikky in a statement to the media, Thursday, February 22.

Rikky said, to achieve this target, SKK Migas and Medco EP Natuna have set a massive drilling program. Medco EP Natuna has drilled 8 Ofshore wells, this number exceeds the target set at 5 wells or reaches 160 percent.

In addition, there are two projects that have been onstream from optimizing the development of the Bronang gas field with a capacity of 65 MMSCFD and the New Elephant Further Compression Project (GBFCP) of 117 MMSCFD.

The investment value of both reached 97 million. For 2024, there are an additional 6 exploitation wells and West Belut projects with a gas production capacity of 50 MMSCFD and the Anoa Further Compression Project (AFCP) project with a capacity of 117 MMSCFD facilities and estimated production. It is hoped that from the production facilities of Forel and Bronang, which had been delayed for completion, it could increase production by 10,000 BOPD and 43 MMSCFD in the third quarter of 2024.

"This achievement shows that the Ripri province has great oil and gas potential with a contribution to achieving increasing liquiding targets," said Rikky.
