Only 31.5 Million Registrants, Government Decides To Extend Subsidized Elpiji Registration

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Migas) has extended the registration of ID cards for the purchase of 3 kg LPG cylinders. Initially, this registration ended on January 31, 2024.

Director of Downstream Oil and Gas Business Development at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Mustika Pratiwi said that his party plans to extend registrants until May 31, 2024. Namnun stated that the registrant for this program has only reached 31.5 million NIK or is still far from the total NIK in the data on the Order for the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty (P3KE).

"Actually, our target yesterday was January 31, but until January 31, 2023, it turns out that there is still only 31.5 million NIK status," he said when met at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas Building, Tuesday, January 16.

Mustika added that although they have not registered, the public can still purchase 3 kg of LPG cylinders at bases or retailers.

This, he said, refers to the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who asked that there be no shortage of 3 kg cylinder gas in the field.

"We'll see what the progress will be. But basically we will evaluate later, the point is the president's direction that there should not be a shortage in the field, we will re-evaluate it later," explained Mustika.

Previously reported, the Director General of Oil and Gas, Tutuka Ariadji, said that the step to require registered buyers with ID cards and families was the government's effort to realize the transformation of the distribution of 3 kg LPG on target.

Therefore, Tutuka appealed to people who have not been registered to register immediately before purchasing 3 kg LPG.

For those who have not registered, cannot buy, except register first. So you have to register first, there is a registration process. We are still open, register first and then you can buy it," he explained.
