JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) managed to cut emissions by up to 618.5 tons of CO2 equivalence (tCO2e) from January to October 2023.

This emission reduction was supported by two Solar Power Plants (PLTS) built by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), namely PLTS Bali Mandara Toll Road and PLTS at the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) Soekarno-Hatta Airport Building. The amount of emissions cut in 10 months is equivalent to planting 847 trees.

In detail, the PLTS on the Bali Mandara Toll Road with a capacity of 400 Kilowatt-peak (kWp) managed to reduce emissions by 414.1 tCO2e until October 2023, equivalent to planting 567 trees. Meanwhile, the PLTS of the Soetta Airport AOCC Building cut emissions by 204.4 tCO2e in the same period, equivalently planting 280 trees.

The electricity production from the Bali Mandara Toll PLTS in January-October 2023 reached 524,197.8 kWh. Meanwhile, the AOCC Building PLTS Soetta Airport generated 258,741.8 kWh of electricity.

"The development of new and renewable energy (EBT) is a concrete manifestation of PTBA's support in the energy transition. In line with PTBA's vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment, we are determined to continue to contribute to the provision of national energy while preserving the environment," said PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Corporate Secretary Niko Chandra in his statement to the media, Tuesday, December 19.

Niko emphasized that PTBA supports the achievement of the Net Zero Emission target in 2060 or previously set by the Government. Therefore, PTBA is carrying out the transformation. The portfolio of EBT-based power plants is expanded.

PLTS at the AOCC Building at Soetta Airport was built through PTBA collaboration with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). This plant has been fully operational since October 1, 2020.

Meanwhile, the development of the Bali Mandara Toll Road PLTS which was inaugurated on September 21, 2022 is the result of the synergy between PTBA and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. On February 24, 2023, PTBA and Jasa Marga signed an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for PLTS in other toll road areas that are in the management of Jasa Marga Group.

"Through synergies with various parties, we continue to strive to optimize existing potentials. That way, PTBA can continue to contribute to sustainable economic development," he concluded.
