JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Arsal Ismail asked for support from the assignment from Commission VII of the DPR RI to work on a clean energy project in the National Capital of the Archipelago (IKN).

"We need support from Commission VII for PTBA to participate in supporting the target of the new energy mix in IKN and other parts of Indonesia," he said in a Hearing Meeting with Commission VII DPR RI quoted Tuesday, November 28.

In addition to asking for support on clean energy, Arsal said, other requests such as strengthening regulations that support the sustainability of the coal industry to support national energy security while still paying attention to the government's net zero emission (NZE) achievement target in 2060.

He asked for regulatory support and incentives to initiate in the context of utilizing coal derivative products.

Just so you know, PTBA is currently working on a coal downstream project into dimethyl ether (DME).

He added to requests for support to accelerate the implementation of partner management agencies (MIP).

Regarding requests for support regarding clean energy at IKN, members of Commission VII PKB Faction, Ratna Juwita received a response.

Ratna assessed that this proposal was attractive and stated that she agreed that the assignment to work on clean energy should be given to State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) first before being handed over to the private sector.

"Earlier, PTBA said that if you ask for support in order to participate in the provision of clean energy in supporting the target of the EBT mix in Indonesia. We agree that this assignment should be given to the red plate first before the term is auctioned freely," said Ratna.

According to him, the PTBA proposal is also in line with the completion of the draft Law on New Energy and Renewable Energy (EBET) which will ensure that people are worried about clean energy at a cheaper price.

"Because there is also there that people have the right to get clean energy from EBET at competitive prices, whoever the provider is," concluded Ratna.
