JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk has started to flow natural gas to 2,705 Household Connections (SR) gradually at Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta. This program is a synergy between PT PGN Tbk and the DKI Jakarta Regional Government to encourage the use of clean energy to the people of DKI Jakarta.

PGN Jakarta Area Head Sheila happened to mention that gas lines in Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta are part of the gas network project being built by PGN this year as many as 303,039 House Connections.

"The flow of jargas at Pondok Kelapa has begun on November 23, 2023 and will be continued at the home of the next jargas recipient until the completion of the jargas construction at the end of 2023," Sheila said in a statement to the media, Tuesday, November 28.

He added that PGN Jakarta area wants to actively participate in running the jargas project as one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN). The development of jargas in DKI Jakarta is also to reduce the subsidy of imported energy which is one of the burdens of the State Budget in Indonesia.

"Including the DKI Jakarta area, which we continue to strive for so that the gas program continues to increase," said Sheila.

According to him, the existence of jargas is expected to complement the facilities of the people of Jakarta in using more modern, practical, safe and environmentally friendly energy. Especially in the midst of the incessant development of infrastructure or other utilities in a city like Jakarta.

"PGN will continue to be committed to supporting the government's efforts in the success of national strategic programs in providing natural gas supply and distribution for households and small customers," said Sheila.

Utilization of natural gas for households can generate cost savings of 22 to 25 percent compared to the use of non-subsidized energy. The gas burning is cleaner so that it supports net zero carbon emissions.

In consumers of 3 kg gas cylinders that have switched to using gas lines, PGN has contributed to saving government subsidies of IDR 474 billion per year and saving the country's foreign exchange used to import the tube gas.

Apart from DKI Jakarta, the construction of gas lines carried out by PGN is spread throughout Indonesia, including the construction and provision of gas infrastructure in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) with a total distribution pipe length of 2,334 KM installed.

For information, in order to meet the needs of household natural gas for areas that do not have gas sources, PGN has developed to the region with a beyond pipeline development scheme like the one being built in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region.
