50 Oil And Gas Working Areas Contracted, This Is The Location

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that there were 50 Oil and Gas Working Areas whose contracts were terminated.

Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji revealed the names of contractors whose WKs were returned to the state for re-auction. Tutuka said the 50 WKs were spread from Sumatra to Papua.

"Number one, for example, Andaman III, which is managed by Repsol. Previously (managed by Repsol), is now returned. That's one of the things that is fast, try quickly to be explored," said Tutuka quoted Wednesday, October 18.

Previously, it was reported that Repsol decided to withdraw from Block Andaman III. Stakeholders Relations Manager of Repsol Indonesia Amir Faisal Jindan revealed that the reason Repsol's flight was because the results of the Rencong-1X Well drilling were not satisfactory.

Apart from Andaman III, Tutuka also mentioned WK in Eastern Indonesia such as West Puku Block, West Timor Block and West Papua 4.

"Then there are also areas in the east, yes, some West Puku, for example, or East West, or West Papua 4," continued Tutuka.

Tutuka merinc, of the 50 WK, 11 of them are non conventional WK oil and gas such as shale oil and Coal Bed Methane (CBM). In addition, there are also non-conventional WKs from PT Asam-Asam Methangas.

"But there are also several Non-Conventional WKs, for example from Green Energy there are several fields. Then there are ConocoPhilips, Kalimantan Exploration, yes. There is a WK whose names are Kuala Kurun and others," he explained.

Tutuka said that with the re-auction at 50 WK, he hoped to increase national oil and gas production.

"Indeed, there are things that can be prospective like the one in Andaman 3, so geologically evaluate it based on the background, based on the experience," added Tutuka.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources plans to conduct an auction of 10 WK this year and plans to auction 3 WK by the end of 2023 while the rest will be announced in 2024.

"We have targeted 10 WK and we will still offer another 3 at the end of this year. From the beginning of next year we will convey it. But for the joint study, it can be started or can be done," concluded Tutuka.
