BANDA ACEH - Acting Governor of Aceh Bustami Hamzah stated that the construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road in Aceh will continue and enter phase III in accordance with President Joko Widodo's decision.

"The Lhokseumawe-Sigli and Langsa-Lhokseumawe toll roads are in phase III," said Bustami as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 16.

President Jokowi previously changed several provisions in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 100 of 2014 concerning the Acceleration of Toll Road Development in Sumatra.

The changes are contained in Presidential Regulation Number 42 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Decree Number 100 of 2014 concerning the Acceleration of Toll Road Development in Sumatra, which was signed on Monday (25/3).

President Jokowi assigned PT Hutama Karya to finance 24 sections of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road.

In this regulation, entrepreneurship of 24 toll roads is carried out to accelerate the construction of toll roads in Sumatra, including the Lhokseumawe-Sigli and Langsa-Lhokseumawe toll roads.

Bustami conveyed that this good news was the hope of the people of Aceh, so that the construction of the Sibanceh (Sigli-Banda Aceh) toll road would reach the border of North Sumatra.

"The government and the people of Aceh are grateful for the President's policy for the issuance of the 100 Presidential Decree, because the sustainability of toll road construction in Aceh will increase the connectivity of toll roads in Sumatra," he said.

He believes that the sustainability of toll road development in Aceh can spur regional developments from various economic sectors such as trade, industry, tourism and others.

Toll road users will provide added value for each user in choosing the mode of transportation used.

"With the business of phase III of the Lhokseumawe-Sigli and Langsa-Lhokseumawe toll roads, it gives Aceh hope in increasing the stimulus for economic growth," said Bustami.

For information, currently the construction of the Sibanceh Toll Road leaves one section (Padang Tiji-Seulimum) whose construction process is still being driven and is targeted to operate before the implementation of the XXI 2024 PON.
