Sandiaga Explores Collaboration With Northeastern University Boston For Bali Tourism Poltek

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno Kunker to Northeastern University in Boston, United States. He wants to increase international cooperation in the tourism sector and the creative economy.

Menparekraf Sandiaga in his statement in Boston, said that exploring opportunities for cooperation with one of the leading private universities in Boston is needed to accelerate science, one of which is AI (Artificial Intelligence) and its development in a sustainable manner.

The expected scope of cooperation includes comparative studies, joint research initiatives, curriculum improvements, and industrial partnerships.

Through efforts to explore cooperation with international institutions such as Northeastern University will increase the capability of the Bali Tourism Polytechnic which will have an impact on the quality of education and training in the tourism sector in Indonesia.

"This is in line with the commitment of the Indonesian government (Kemenparekraf) to advance the tourism sector and the creative economy, encourage economic growth, and promote sustainable tourism practices," said Sandiaga.

To accelerate the collaboration between the Bali Tourism Polytechnic and the Northeastern University, Menparekraf Sandiaga proposed a project-based graduate curriculum, student entrepreneurship development through research workshops or networking, as well as facilitating learning visits for NEU students to Bali.

"We hope that this opportunity for cooperation can be established so that it will provide benefits for both parties, Northeastern University and of course Bali Tourism Polytechnic," he said.

Dunton Family Dean of Southeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business, David de Cremer, also sees great opportunities in the tourism and creative industry closely related to the application of AI. Therefore David will compile a curriculum that will involve AI.

"We need to first understand what AI is and how AI can be applied to this. If this is relevant from an Indonesian point of view, we will work together," said David.
