Ahead Of Eid 2024, The Ministry Of Manpower Ensures That There Are No Companies Doing Layoffs

The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) ensures that no company has massive layoffs (PHK) ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri.

"Alhamdulillah, several companies that conducted consultations a few weeks ago want to lay off, we have postponed their layoffs for no layoffs this month. Hopefully in the future there will also be no layoffs," said the Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security Development (PHI and Social Security) of the Ministry of Manpower, Indah Anggoro Putri, when met after the joint homecoming release event in Jakarta, Thursday, April 4, was confiscated by Antara.

The Director General of PHI and Social Security at the Ministry of Manpower Indah confirmed that there were around five companies that wanted to consult with the Ministry of Manpower regarding efficiency measures and layoffs of workers.

When confirmed regarding what sectors the company consulting layoffs with the Ministry of Manpower, Indah refused to specify the types of businesses and names of these companies.

On that occasion, he also confirmed that workers have the right to receive holiday allowances (THR) in accordance with statutory provisions.

This can be seen from the decrease in the number of consultations and complaints that enter the THR 2024 Command Post compared to the same period last year, both through the Ministry of Manpower channel and the Manpower Office in various regions.

Data from the Ministry of Manpower shows that until Wednesday, April 3, or seven days before Eid, there were around 320 consultations conducted through various THR posts belonging to the Ministry of Manpower, compared to around 500 consultations and complaints in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the consultation and complaint of the THR Command Post throughout Indonesia currently reaches around 600. That number decreased compared to 1,500 consultations and complaints last year.

Most of those who conduct consultations are contract workers or those with a certain Time Work Agreement (PKWT) working bond.

"In general, the contracts have expired," said Indah Anggoro Putri.

According to the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower Number 6 of 2016 concerning Religious THR for Workers/Labourers in Companies Article 7, workers/laborers with PKWT work ties whose contracts expire from 30 days before religious holidays are not entitled to receive THR.
