JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto met Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya, Thursday 4 April. The two discussed the direction of Indonesia-Malaysia relations as well as their respective political career journeys.

Anwar said the meeting at his office was part of a one-day special visit to Malaysia.

"We use this moment to share experiences and exchange opinions about each other's careers and the next direction in bringing together Malaysia-Indonesia relations again," Anwar said in a statement published on his account on social media, Thursday, April 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the course of his political career as well as Prabowo was almost the same as being tested with various challenges before being inaugurated.

Career journey became a topic of casual conversation, which was also interspersed by Prabowo's story while continuing secondary lessons and education at the Victoria Institution (VI) Kuala Lumpur.

"I had time to leave my tahniah and good luck to Prabowo who will be sworn in as the 8th President of Indonesia. Hopefully, Malaysia-Indonesia friendly relations will continue to be close and strengthened for the common good in the future," said Anwar.

Prabowo visited Malaysia, after visiting China on Sunday 31 March and Japan 3 April, to meet with PM Anwar in Putrajaya.

Malaysia is the third country Prabowo has visited in a series of overseas trips since he was appointed on March 20 by the General Elections Commission (KPU) as the elected president.

Prabowo and his entourage arrived at Subang Air Base, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, on Wednesday evening April 3. The President-elected of the Republic of Indonesia was greeted by Malaysian Defense Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin and the Indonesian Defense Attache in Kuala Lumpur, Brigadier General Winarno.
