BADUNG - General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, Handy Heryudhitiawan said that he is currently preparing another new international route from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to him, the opening of this international route is the first time from the airline Etihad Airways.

"Etihad Airways plans to fly from Abu Dhabi to Bali, we also continue to prepare to make sure what the plane is, where to park, and check for the counter, because it must be adjusted from our capabilities and facilities," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 3.

"The new airline, as far as I know, has never flown (in Bali) this is a new route," he said.

Handy said the plan was for the airline Etihad Airways to land for the first time after the 2024 Eid momentum around May.

Etihad will take passengers regularly from the Abu Dhabi-Denpasar and Denpasar Abu Dhabi routes.

Last week, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport received additional direct flights to and from India with the IndiGo airline, meaning that the airport located in Badung Regency has served 33 international routes with 36 airlines.

He is optimistic that the current addition and movement at the end of 2024 will record services to 23.6 million passengers, both international and domestic.

"We are optimistic that by the end of the year we will serve 23.6 million passengers, growing from last year's total of 21 million," he said.
