JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country is ready for a nuclear war from a "technical-military" point of view.

"From a military technical point of view, we are of course ready. They (Russian troops) are always in a combat-ready condition," Putin said during an interview with the Rossiya-1 state TV channel reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Wednesday, March 13.

Putin noted that it had become a common accepted thing in Russia's nuclear triad, namely land, sea, and air modes, more modern than others, and stated that only Moscow and Washington had the triad.

"We've made a lot of progress here. Ours is more modern, with all the nuclear components. In general, in terms of operators and costs, we have the same, but we are more modern," Putin said further.

The Russian president then continued that the US has plans to increase the modernity of its nuclear triad, but this does not mean Washington is ready to start a nuclear war tomorrow.

Commenting on the possibility of conducting nuclear tests, Putin said Moscow was aware of US considerations of the trial based on the belief of some experts that the warhead test was not sufficient to only be carried out on computers.

"If they do a trial like that, I don't exclude whether we need it or not, we still need to think about it, but it's possible that we can do the same," he said.
