The National Police responded to the steps taken by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) who sued the pretrial of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo because Firli Bahrui had never been detained in handling cases of alleged extortion and gratification against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo, said that in handling the case, investigators worked procedurally according to applicable regulations.

"Once again, we believe that investigators will always work procedurally and accountably," Trunoyudo told reporters, Monday, March 4.

Regarding the development of handling, investigators are said to be still trying to complete the case file. Of course, in accordance with the directions or instructions of the research prosecutor.

"So far, the steps we have taken are in order to fulfill the appointment of the public prosecutor," he said

However, it was not explained about the next step in an effort to complete the case file. It is known that there were obstacles faced by investigators, namely the absence of Firli Bahuri on two summons for examination.

The chairman of the KPK for the 2019-2023 period was absent on the summons for examination on February 6 and 26.

It is only said, Bareskrim Polri, in this case the Directorate of Corruption Crimes, from the start provided assistance so that the handling was more accountable.

"So far, assistance has also been provided from the beginning until now by the Directorate of Criminal Acts of Criminal Investigation of the Police," said Trunoyudo.

Meanwhile, MAKI sued the pretrial of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo; Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto; and DKI Kajati Narendra Jatna regarding the development of cases of alleged extortion and gratification that named Firli Bahuri as suspects.

MAKI Coordinator, Boyamin Saiman said the reason for filing a pretrial lawsuit was because the National Police Chief and the Regional Police Chief were deemed to have stopped the investigation process illegally by not detaining Firli Bahuri.

"That the Kapolda and the National Police Chief have terminated the investigation illegally because they did not detain Firli Bahuri," he said.

"That in order to comply with this decision by the respondents, it is necessary to order the judges to the respondents to detain FB," continued Boyamin.

In addition, the respondents are also considered to have immediately transferred Firli Bahuri's case file. Then, the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office is also considered to have to immediately state that the case file is complete.

"That the Respondents should immediately hand over the case file for the third time to the Public Prosecutor of the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office and the Public Prosecutor should immediately state the complete file if the evidence has fulfilled the elements of corruption suspected by investigators," said Boyamin.
