Head of Basarnas Kendari Muhammad Arafah said that the toddler was named Fani (2 years), who was reported missing by Brimob personnel from the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police at 03:45 WITA.

"We received a report that one child fell in a ditch due to the flood," said Arafah, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 4.

He said that after receiving the information, his party immediately dispatched the Kendari Basarnas Rescue Team to the location to provide SAR assistance.

"The distance from the location with the Kendari Basarnas is about 10 kilometers," he said.

In the operation, he continued, several equipment was used, namely rescue cars, rubber boats, aquaeye, medical palsars, evacuation palsars, communication equipment, and several other safety support equipment.

He explained that the victim's fall in the ditch began when the toddler and his mother fell and went into a ditch.

"When he fell, the mother and victim were carried away by the flow of water caused by heavy rains," he explained.

He said that at that time, the victim's mother was rescued after being swept away by a flow of 25 meters. However, the toddler was separated from his mother.

"The search has been carried out by the family and local residents, but it has not been found," said Muhammad Arafah.
