Flash floods and landslides have hit several areas in Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

The Head of the Sumbawa Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Muhammad Nurhidayat, said that the floods and landslides occurred in Labangkar Village and Rupang Village. Both are in Rupang District, Saturday, February 24 at 16.30 WITA.

"The flash floods and landslides were caused by high-intensity rain in the upstream area of Rupang District," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 25.

He revealed that due to the flash flood, dozens of houses in Labangkar Village were flooded. Not only that, but the flood also caused landslides, causing material losses.

"This landslide land occurs in residential areas where if it is not handled it will have an impact on the settlements of local residents," explained Nurhidayat.

According to him, the number of families (KK) affected by the flood in Labangkar Village was 30 families, while the number of houses affected by the landslide was four units.

Meanwhile, in Rupang Village, landslides resulted in the release of an iron bridge border plate in the local village, thus disrupting road user access.

"For urgent needs, the construction of residential cliff-retaining gabions and the handling of repairs to the Rupang Village runoff bridge," he said.

According to Nurhidayat, the current condition of the water has receded and residents have started cleaning their respective houses and cleaning the former flash floods on the pedestrian bridge in Labangkar Village.

"So everyone was involved in helping residents from the Sumbawa Regency BPBD, TNI/Polri, sub-district elements, village elements, disaster volunteers and the community," he said.

Previously, on Wednesday (21/2) a number of areas in Sumbawa Regency were also hit by floods and landslides due to high rain intensity.

Among the affected areas, include Kalabeso Village, Labuhan Bird Village, and Jurumapin Village in Buer District. Then the flood also occurred in Marente Village, Alas District.

As a result of the flood, the bridge connecting Kalabeso Village to Labuhan Bird Village, Buer District was cut off. Not only that, the cliff-retaining embankment on the left and right of the connecting bridge also collapsed about 60 meters.

Then the agricultural area of about 25 hectares was flooded and resulted in crop failure, including 52 families who were also affected by the flash flood.

Meanwhile, in Marente Village, Alas District, flash floods caused the connecting bridge between Marente Loka Hamlet and Beru Marente Hamlet to be cut off.
