The General Election Commission (KPU) of Garut Regency has allocated a maximum compensation budget of IDR 36 million per officer of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) who died during the 2024 General Election.

"Hopefully the maximum compensation can be maximized, the maximum is at Rp36 million per person," said Garut Regency KPU Chairman Dian Hasanudin when contacted by cell phone in Garut, West Java, Tuesday, February 20, as reported by Antara.

He said the KPU had prepared a budget for election organizers who died, not only KPPS officers, but also Linmas Unit officers who died received compensation.

"We have asked the administration to disburse spiritual funds, hopefully we can give maximum," he said.

He added that there were six election organizers who died, consisting of two KPPS officers in Regol Village, Garut City District, and Pamulihan Village, Cisurupan District who died before voting was carried out or outside election activities.

Meanwhile, four people died during a series of elections, namely KPPS officers in Cipurip Village/District, then KPPS officers in Sukamukti Village, Sukawening District. Furthermore, two Linmas officers, namely at Mulyasari Village TPS, Bayongbong District, and officers in Jatiwangi Village, Pakenjeng District.

During the election, said Dian, 248 officers were recorded as sick from the KPPS, then two PPK officers, 25 PPS officers, and 18 Linmas Unit officers.

"There are only 12 KPPS who are being treated, some are being treated at the puskesmas in the hospital," he said.
