Ministry Of Health Ensures Health Facilities Are On Standby 24 Hours During Elections

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) ensures that health care facilities (fasyankes) are on standby 24 hours during the general election (election), February 14, 2024.

"The health facilities (in the form of) health centers and hospitals are on standby 24 hours (on) 14-15 February 2024," said Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 13.

Preparedness of health facilities, he said, is to anticipate various unwanted events, such as emergency conditions, natural disasters, and social conflicts.

His party is also prepared to provide a Public Safety Center (PSC) 119.

Since the beginning, the Ministry of Health together with the Social Security Administration (BPJS) of Health have also carried out health screening for prospective officials of the polling group (KPPS), in order to reduce the risk of fatigue in work, and so that officers understand the health risks that can be experienced while on duty.

"Officers are prioritized without any health conditions with comorbidities or degenerative diseases, or not having chronic diseases such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, tuberculosis, kidney disorders, stroke, as well as ferocity and lung disease," he said.

If officers are found accompanied by a degenerate disease condition, he said, it is necessary to assess it by medical personnel who are competent in their fields accompanied by a health certificate and information that the disease is controlled or controlled.

The Ministry of Health has also made health promotive and preventive efforts to minimize the health risks that occur in organizing elections, especially to personnel who will work, since 24 January.

"Education and health protocols (health protocols) for KPPS officers (related to) the existence of health facilities and infrastructure, and maintaining the health of individuals with 4C (sufficient sleep, enough drink, enough food, and enough exercise)," he said.

The activity, said Nadia, was also followed by sports together with election officers at all puskesmas in Indonesia on February 2 and 9.

Through these various efforts, he hopes that the 2024 General Election can run safely and smoothly.
