JAKARTA - Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya announced two orangutan individuals who were born in Betung Kerihan National Park, West Kalimantan. Both have grown healthy and become a breath of fresh air for orangutan conservation efforts in Indonesia.

Both were released into the wild in 2017 in the Nanga Hovat Resort Area, the result of a collaboration between the Betung Kerihun National Park Center and Lake Senarum (BBTNBKDS) with the Orangutan Sintang Rescue Foundation (YPOS) and the West Kalimantan BKSDA.
The child of Jojo's orangutan is estimated to be two years old when he was met in November 2023, while the child from Juvi is estimated to be one year old when he was first met in 2019, until 2024, he is estimated to be 6 years old.
He explained that the preservation of animal habitats and conservation is an inseparable unit in the targets of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry programs.
